Established in 1982 by Fred Cline, Cline Family Cellars has humble beginnings in Oakley, Contra Costa County. Over the years, as the business has grown, the Clines acquired vineyards throughout northern California and moved their winery from Oakley to Sonoma. Driven by a desire to produce wines of the highest quality while being stewards of the land, the Clines are committed to preserving ecological balance and our natural resources. To that end, they farm their vineyards sustainably and work with farmers who do the same.
The 2024 Cline Family Cellars Viognier Mendocino County is sourced from two longtime family-farmed vineyards near the town of Hopland in Mendocino County. Both vineyards consistently achieve ideal ripeness, and harvest happens at the peak of flavor development. The vineyards benefit from warm, sunny days and cool nighttime temperatures, resulting in a Viognier with generous body, rich aromatics, and vibrant natural acidity. This wine offers the rich texture of a reserve Chardonnay, but its fruit expression is distinctly Viognier. Layers of ripe apricot, juicy pear, and tropical fruit are lifted by bright citrus, creating a vibrant and deliciously expressive wine.
