The Talmard family has been making wine in the Mâconnais since the 17th century. Current proprietors Mallory Talmard and her husband Benjamin display the passion, skill and in-depth knowledge of the region's terroir that one would expect from someone with winemaking in their bones. With holdings in the communes of Uchizy, Montbellet, Farges-lès-Mâcon, and Tournus, they have ample opportunity to display their immense talents.
Today's offer is sourced entirely from grapes grown in the commune of Montbellet and, as such, is considered to be of higher quality than wines with only the Mâcon appellation designation. We were pretty blown away by its elegance and complexity! Medium-bodied, it has lovely aromas and flavors of Golden Delicious apple, pear, and quince, with underlying notes of limestone minerality. Lushly-textured yet unoaked, it is at once rich and satisfying yet clean and refreshing. This is a Chardonnay that will appeal to all manner of Chardonnay lovers - those in the "oak" as well as "no oak" camps.
