PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
Bianco di Custoza (or simply Custoza), is a white DOC wine from the Veneto region of northeastern Italy. The wine might be seen as the white equivalent of "red Bardolino DOC" as the two production areas overlap significantly.*

Roberto Bricolo established Gorgo in 1973 with 22 hectares. Today he has over 60 hectares, almost all part of the “Bianco di Custoza” and “Bardolino” DOCs. He now runs the estate with his daughter and chief winemaker Roberta.*

Gorgo's wines are fresh, authentic representations of the region and have been widely recognized by Gambero Rosso as well as the rest of the Italian wine press. Gorgo sits on glacial moraine just southeast of Lake Garda, near the village of Custoza. The lightly textured soil consists of rock fragments, pebbles, humus, and silt rich in calcium carbonate. The certified organic vineyards are managed using traditional local methods, including the use of organic fertilizers and hand-harvesting, which can take up to 45 days.*

This dry white is obtained from a complex blend of grapes from different vines, each contributing distinguishing features to the finished wine: Trebbiano toscano (or castelli romani locally) imparts vigor and contributes to the wine’s body; cortese (or bianca fernanda locally) gives the dry, harmonious and fresh taste; garganega and tocai friulano add stone fruits and aromatics.*

The 2022 Gorgo Bianco di Custoza has fragrant aromas of honeysuckle and tropical fruits followed by a palate of ripe peaches and Honeydew melons laced with subtle hints of wet stone and herbs. Moderate yet refreshing acidity brings it to a long finish.
