Today's wine is crafted from sauvignon vert (also known as friulano), a varietal grown throughout Slovenia and the Friuli region of Italy. It hails from Goriška Brda, part of the larger Primosrki appellation located in the western part of Slovenia that borders northern Italy. The region has verdant, rolling hills reminiscent of Tuscany and terroir that is just as noteworthy: wide diurnal temperature variations, moderating breezes from the Alps and the Adriatic Sea, and mineral-rich, well-drained soils that bring forth wines of immense depth and complexity.
Movia was founded in 1820 and has been instrumental in putting Slovenian wines on the world wine stage. It is currently under the care of winemaker Aleš Kristančič, whose reverence for terroir, adherence to organic practices, and willingness to let the terroir be the main determinant of his wines’ character have earned him legions of fans and numerous accolades from the wine press. Movia has been a 9-time recipient of Wine & Spirits Magazine's "Top 100 Wineries" award.
The 2022 Movia Sauvignon Vert was vinified and aged on the lees in stainless steel. It has aromas of pears, green apples, lemon zest, and grapefruit that follow on the lushly textured palate. Accents of herbs, wet stone, and green tea add depth and complexity; bright, mouth-watering acidity and a whiff of white pepper bring the wine to a long and satisfying finish.

92 points, James Suckling:
"Attractive aromas of green apples and pears together with citrus peel, orchid blossom, and stones. Medium-bodied, so fresh, tense and tingly, but with a delicate and sleek texture. Flavorful and floral. Nicely rounded finish."
