PRODUCT OVERVIEW/REVIEW:

Marie Weiss Champagne Brut NV is a special cuvée crafted by Champagne Ployez-Jacquemart and sold primarily through restaurants in the European market.The wine is crafted to the same exacting standard as their primary brand but are priced much more aggressively to accommodate by the glass pours and such.

Laurence Ployez is the third-generation winemaker at her family's estate, which was established in 1930. The Champagne house owns 2.15 hectares of Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards in Ludes and Mailly-Champagne in the Montagne de Reims, known for its classic chalk slopes.

In addition Laurence purchases Premier Cru and Grand Cru grapes from 12 hectares of vineyards from growers that the family has worked with for over 20 years. All of the work in the vineyards is done by hand, from the beginning of the growing season until the grapes are harvested. 

Unlike most producers in Champagne, she strives to keep the characteristic of each vintage even in her NV blends and only uses a very small amount of reserve wine, if any at all. 

The Marie Weiss NV Brut is a blend of 50% pinot noir, 25% pinot meunier and 25% chardonnay from the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs, with about half of the juice sourced from 1er and Grand Cru vineyards. An incredible value for the price, it is "a vivacious Champagne, offering a toasty overtone that enriches the pure fruit flavors of crushed black currant and cherry fruit, with accents of lime blossom, anise, and ginger cream.
