Hailing originally from Schonberg, Germany, the Yung family fled their home in the early 19th century to escape the Napoleonic Wars. The family originally settled in Algeria, and in 1859 the first Yung planted vines they would tend for the next hundred years. In 1962, the family moved once again, this time to Bordeaux, where young Charles truly began his own winemaking journey.

Currently, the Yung family has 153 hectares under vine in Bordeaux. Charles has stepped into an advisory role, as his sons Jean Christophe and Rodolphe have taken over the management of the business and continue the family tradition.

Château Haut-Mondain showcases quality that is practically silly at this price; this is classic Claret from chalky clay hillsides in the Entre-Deux-Mers.

A blend of 85% merlot and 15% cabernet sauvignon, Château Haut-Mondain is a wine of considerable structure and power. Aromas and flavors of black currant, cassis, tobacco, and graphite are set off by a thread of clove spice. This medium-to-full-bodied red has both weight and length on the finish.

ABV 13.5%
