Introduction:
The 2024 Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough is a benchmark expression of New Zealand sauvignon blanc, combining vibrant aromatics with texture, depth, and precision. Crafted by Kevin Judd, this wine goes beyond simple exuberance, delivering layered citrus and stone fruit, savory undertones, and a refined structure that makes it equally compelling as an aperitif or at the table.

Terrior:
Sourced from select vineyards across Marlborough, including sites in the Southern Valleys and Wairau Plains, the vines grow in free-draining alluvial soils with clay and gravel components. Marlborough’s cool maritime climate, intense sunlight, and pronounced diurnal temperature shifts preserve acidity while building aromatic intensity. The 2024 vintage reflects excellent ripeness balanced by freshness, with Greywacke’s hands-off philosophy allowing terroir expression to remain front and center.

Tasting notes:
The wine has aromas of lime zest, grapefruit, passionfruit, and white peaches, with notes of fresh-cut grass, flint, and wet stone. The palate has vibrant acidity entwined with a supple, generously textured mouthfeel. Citrus and tropical fruits lead, followed by peaches, saline minerality, and gentle herbal complexity. Partial fermentation with wild yeasts and lees contact adds depth without diminishing freshness. The finish is long, clean, and mouthwatering, with citrus peel, subtle herbal tones, and a mineral-driven snap.

Press:
95 points, Decanter:
"Aromatic and evocative, bursting with pink grapefruit, tropical fruits, elderflower, lemongrass, and snow pea, with a creamy lees undertow and flashes of herbal/mineral notes. A rich, mouth-filling palate, generous in tropical fruit and citrussy acid drive, which tightens up to a nicely crisp, saline, long, dry finish. Lovely now, but fruit intensity and balance suggest this will mellow nicely in the bottle too."

93 points, Wine Advocate:
"The wine leads with passion fruit and white pineapple, green apple, beeswax, and brine. The wine is salty, fine, and sedate—the characters are all in balance with each other. It is intense and concentrated, shaped by savory phenolics and loaded with crunchy New Zealand acidity. This speaks of the place in a clear, unfettered voice, and it's brilliant for that."

93 points, Wine Spectator:
"This white’s vibrant, aromatic flavors of lemon blossoms, ripe peach, kumquat, and lime sherbet show focus and intensity on a smooth, sleek body. Touches of candied ginger and green tea linger on the fresh finish."

Overall Impression:
Integrating Marlborough’s sunlit terroir, luminous appearance, intensely aromatic nose, vibrant yet textured palate, and long, mineral-driven finish, the 2024 Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc is a polished and expressive example of the variety. It pairs beautifully with seafood, fresh herbs, and tangy cheeses, offering both immediacy and sophistication.
