The 2021 Hess Estates Panthera Chardonnay is an homage to balance - fruit with terroir and oak-driven richness with acidity - and is inspired by the subtle strength brought forth by the cool climate of the Russian River valley. This monovarietal, aged for 18 months in a combination of new and seasoned French oak barrels, presents beautiful layers of crisp, bright Asian pear and golden apple that lead to luscious notes of lemon curd developed from malolactic fermentation. The deft baseline of toasted oak introduces notes of buttered French toast and hints of crème brûlée, which are complemented by a signature backbone of acidity nurtured on the Sonoma Coast.*
