Mollydooker Winery was established by Sarah and Sparky in 2006. Their success is based on their unique system of vine nourishment. Coined "The Marquis Vineyard Watering Programme™", it involves supplying their vines with the right amount of water based on their growth at various points in the viticultural cycle. This system was designed to ensure that their grapes would be transformed into wines with ripe, concentrated fruit characters and velvety texture. Carnival of Love is sourced exclusively from the Gateway vineyard in McLaren Vale, one of Australia's most prized Shiraz sub-regions. Warm, dry Mediterranean days are tempered by afternoon sea breezes off the coast and cool nights that preserve the natural acidity and aromatic freshness that bring forth balanced wines. The soils are predominantly iron-rich clay loam - dark, moisture-retentive, and mineral - contributing to the concentrated, dark fruit characters that defines the region's benchmark Shiraz.
Barrel fermented and aged in 100% new American oak, the 2022 Mollydooker Carnival of Love Shiraz is powerful yet elegant, with lifted aromas of red cherries and blackberries entwined with subtle hints of mocha. On the palate, chocolate-dipped cherries and fresh plums take center stage, with baking spices and licorice adding complexity. The wine is well-structured yet silky-textured from start to finish.

This 2022 edition was stored in all new American oak and weights in at 16.5% alcohol but the freshness backing everything up makes this everything but boozy. The weight and pillowy texture really drives this wine as it effortlessly glides throughout the drinking experience. Opulent dark and blue fruits meld effortlessly with dark chocolate shavings, graphite, scorched earth and shades of sweet pipe tobacco on the palate. This is a joy to drink."
