Introduction: Adriano Adami is one of the benchmark names in Prosecco, a family estate with over a century of experience in Valdobbiadene and the surrounding Colli Trevigiani hills. While their flagship wines are Valdobbiadene DOCG, they created the Garbèl in 2004 specifically for the Prosecco DOC Treviso denomination — an everyday expression that carries the same precision and house style as the estate's more prestigious cuvées. The name comes from ancient local dialect, meaning a dry, crisp, pleasantly tart wine — a fitting description in every sense.

Terroir: Sourced from hilly vineyards in the Colli Trevigiani area within the broader Treviso DOC, the Glera vines grow on the sloping terrain that defines the extended Prosecco zone between the Valdobbiadene DOCG and the Veneto plains. The hillside sites provide adequate drainage, diurnal temperature variation, and the gentle breezes that preserve the freshness and aromatic delicacy Glera requires. The wine's 13 grams of residual sugar technically place it between Brut and Extra Dry — approachable and fresh without being sweet.

Appearance: Light straw yellow, bright and clear, with a fine, persistent, and lively perlage — the bubbles are delicate and continuous.

Nose: Fresh and inviting — green apple, ripe pear, white peach, and melon lead, accented by hints of white wildflowers, candied lemon, and glazed almond. Falstaff noted the "fruity and fresh notes of green apple, melon, pear with hints of candied lemon." Subtle and elegant rather than exuberant.

Palate: Light- to medium-bodied, silky, and refreshing, with crisp acidity that enlivens the gentle fruit. Flavors of yellow apple, Bartlett pear, citrus, and a touch of tropical fruit (kiwi, melon) move across a clean, smooth palate. Vinous described it as mixing "savory and sweet with a bouquet of crushed rocks and dusty dried flowers" and "remarkably fresh and clean on the palate." The modest residual sugar rounds out the mouthfeel without tipping into sweetness.

Finish: Clean, fresh, and brief — a hallmark of the style. A saline mineral note and a lingering hint of herbs and orchard fruit close the wine with energy and appetite-whetting crispness.

Food Pairings:
🥩 Meat: Prosciutto e melone, chilled calamari salad, or light chicken antipasti.
🥦 Vegetarian: Bruschetta with fresh tomato, light vegetable frittata, or a lemon-dressed arugula salad.
🧀 Charcuterie Board: Fresh mozzarella, mild provolone, thinly sliced prosciutto di Parma, green olives, and fresh melon.

Overall Impression: The Adami Garbèl is a textbook example of what thoughtful Prosecco production looks like — clean, precise, refreshing, and made by a producer who genuinely cares about quality at every level of the range. Drink as an aperitivo, at the table, or anytime. Serve well-chilled at 43–46°F; drink now and fresh.
