When consulting oenologist extraordinaire Carlo Ferrini leaves his imprint on a Tuscan wine, the results are sure to be sublime. He has spent the better part of the last four decades putting his beliefs and talents to the test, first cutting his teeth working for the Consorzio of Chianti Classico, then acting as consulting agronomist for some of the most famous estates in Tuscany, including Barone Ricasoli. He has elevated this estate to iconic status; today, current proprietor Francesco Ricasoli and his team continue to let the terroir be the guiding force in the winemaking process. Today's sensational offer is a testament to Tuscany's viticultural gifts as well as the talents of Ricasoli's winemakers.

Castello di Brolio is the oldest family-owned winery in the world, tracing it's origins all the way back to 1141. Through 32 generations, the Ricasoli family has overseen this estate and has been among the leading producers in Tuscany for many centuries. Ricasoli wines were among the first Italian wines to be exported, with documents indicating that their wines were sold in Amsterdam and England as early as the 16th century.*

Today's wine was crafted from a meticulous selection of the best fruit from the estate’s vineyards in Gaiole, spread over 230 hectares of land.* The vineyards are at 800 to 1500 feet above sea level, with excellent sun exposure and well-drained soils of sandstone. schist, and limestone. It was crafted from 100% Sangiovese and aged for 22 months in 500-liter tonneaux (30% new oak, 70% second passage).
