New Zealand natives Yolyn and Nick Goldschmidt are the owner/vintners behind today's offering. Nick has been a winemaker since 1982 and has an impressive resumé that includes stints at Babbich in New Zealand, Catena in Argentina, Caliterra in Chile, and Simi in Sonoma. The couple put down roots in Sonoma County with the establishment of the winery bearing their name; today's offer marks their viticultural return to their homeland.
The 2025 Boulder Bank Pinot Gris Fitzroy Vineyard is sourced from the Rapaura sub-region of Marlborough. This flat, expansive landscape is defined by ancient riverbeds and sandy loam soils. Fitzroy Vineyard is perched on a gently elevated terrace strewn with large, rounded stones shaped by historic river flows. At
35 years of age, these vines are among the most mature in the region.*
Pale straw in color, this Pinot Gris opens with an alluring bouquet of Meyer lemon, ripe pear, and apricot. The palate is vibrant and finely textured, layering juicy orchard fruit with nuanced notes of ginger and tropical mango. Lively minerality and balanced, medium acidity lend precision and freshness, carrying through to a long, refined finish marked by subtle, complex spice.*
