Introduction:
A polished and expressive Chardonnay from California’s celebrated Russian River Valley, the 2023 Bravium delivers bright fruit nuance, creamy texture, and balanced oak—portraying a harmonious blend of ripeness and finesse.
Terroir:
Sourced from vineyards nestled in the heart of the Russian River Valley, known for its unique mix of sandy loam and Goldridge soils. The region’s reliable morning fog and warm afternoon sunshine produce cool-climate elegance with full flavor development.
Tasting notes:
This balanced, elegant wine perfectly reflects its origins, the cool climate Plumis Vineyard in the Russian River Valley. Aged for 9 months in French and Hungarian oak (18% new), it has aromas of honey, pears, apples, pineapples, cloves, seashells, damp soil, and white flowers, plus a hint of vanillin oak. The lushly textured palate opens with bright lemons and limes that give way to apples, apricots, and nectarines. Medium acidity turns lightly saline on the lively mineral-laden finish. 91 points, James Suckling:
"Aromas of lemon curd, red apples, and orange blossoms. The palate is medium-bodied with balanced acidity, giving notes of lime sherbet, pastry, and beeswax. A balance of power and freshness."
90 points, Wine Enthusiast:
"Tropical aromas of papaya and pineapple mingle with citrus blossom on the nose of this Chardonnay. There's an energetic freshness to the palate and a charming balance between the tropical vibes and a hint of oaky structure. Great value here."
90 points, Wine Spectator:
"Pretty lemon blossom, fresh ginger, and Honeycrisp apple flavors are accented by fresh and forward notes of lime zest and yuzu. Details of lemon verbena and shortbread complement the vibrant finish."
