Stephanie and Brian Terrizzi founded Broadside Wines with the goal of crafting juice that showcases the unique soils and topography of Paso Robles. Working with consulting winemaker extraordinaire Adam Lazarre, they absolutely nailed it, producing elegant, well-balanced wines that deftly display varietally correct fruit characters and convey a distinct sense of place. They approach each wine as a blank canvas, thus capturing the vine’s personality, the soil in the vineyard and the influence of mother nature. They source their fruit from sustainably-farmed vineyards in order preserve the purity of fruit and terroir. Today’s wine epitomizes their winemaking philosophy and style.
The 2017 Broadside Cabernet Sauvignon is a mono-varietal sourced from vineyards in the AVAs of Santa Margarita Ranch, Estrella, and San Juan Creek, all within the larger Paso Robles AVA. Aged for 14 months in French and American oak barrels, it “exhibits attractive aromas of ripe blackberry and red cherry framed by a touch of oak. It's supple and open-knit on the palate, with a juicy core of dark berry fruits, accents of woodsmoke, pliant tannins, and a long finish.” (from winery notes) The Beverage Tasting Institute gave it 92 points, calling it “a decadent, slightly smoky Paso Cab that’s dark, enchanting, and effortlessly drinkable.”
