PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
Cafaggio is a centuries-old estate located in Tuscany's "Conca d'Oro" (the golden shell) an amphitheater-shaped area located in the valley south of the town of Panzano that benefits from high elevation, clay/shist oil, generous light, and warm, dry weather with wide diurnal temperature variations. The estate's 60 hectares of vineyards, situated about 1000 feet above sea level, bring forth fruit that is transformed into richly flavored wines with marked structure and immense aging potential.
Today's offer is a monovarietal (100% sangiovese) fermented in stainless steel and aged in large Slavonian oak barrels for 12 months before bottling. Medium-to-full-bodied, it has aromas of brambly red cherries and flavors of cherries and raspberries entwined with accents of forest floor, licorice, savory herbs, and wet stone. Firm yet pliant tannins give the wine structure and bring it to a long finish.
