Nicola Catena is widely recognized as the man responsible for revolutionizing the wine industry in Argentina. He established his Mendoza winery in the early 20th century; today, third- and fourth-generation vintners Nicolás Catena and his daughter Laura have carried on the family tradition of crafting world-renowned wines that reflect the terroir of the region.
Today's wines are monovarietals (100% cabernet sauvignon) from the La Piramide vineyard in Agrelo in Luján de Cuyo, an appellation of Mendoza. Stainless steel fermented and aged for 12 months in 100% new French oak, they are resplendent with ripe fruit characters layered with oak- and terroir-driven accents.

93 points, Vinous:
"Garnet red in hue. The nose offers notes of roasted red pepper, ash, and ripe blackcurrant along with hints of spice. Broad and expansive in the mouth, the mid-palate presents grippy tannins that channel and structure the flow into the pleasant, lengthy, bold finish. (9/22)
92 points, James Suckling:
"Subtle sweet spices and coffee to the currants and sweet tobacco. Elegant and dusty on the palate with high-quality, small-grained tannins. Flavorful, chalky, and long. Drink or hold." (3/27/23)
