Château L'Ermite d'Auzan was founded in the 11th Century by the hermits of Sainte Cécile d'Estagel Abbay and it made wine for pilgrims en route to Santiago de Compostela. The estate encompasses 80 hectares of sunny, south-facing vineyards planted on sandstone soils and benefitting from Mediterranean breezes that cool the vines in the summer.

The Castillon family has been working this terroir for 4 generations. They are located on the South side of the Costières de Nîmes, facing Camargue and the Mediterranean sea, which brings the wines delicacy and originality.

Château L'Ermite d'Auzan practices the values of organic farming and recieved certification in 2020 from Terra Vitis. Today the estate is heading to biodynamic farming methods and permaculture.

The AOC of Costières de Nîmes has been reassigned from Languedoc to the Rhône Valley, but its stature as a giant among regions that score high on the price-to-quality ratio is constant. With a history of winemaking that spans centuries, Costières de Nîmes produces complex wines that beautifully display a seamless interplay between grape and terroir.
