The “Cuvée des Terrasses” has been a smash hit here at Bin Ends since The Beginning, particularly in 2012 when we sold out our stash of the 2009 vintage and cultivated a huge fan base among many of our customers. This fabulous, modern-style Rhône red was a spectacular value, with its layers of intense fruit, spiciness, earthiness, supple tannins, and ridiculous price.
The 2020 Château Pesquié "Cuvée des Terrasses" is a blend of grenache and syrah grapes sourced from the various terroirs of the estate, ranging from gravelly soil to limestone to iron-oxide rich clay. The grenache spent 6 months in a combination of stainless steel tanks and oak foudres, while the syrah aged for 6 months in neutral oak barrels. All this diversity in grapes, terroir, and vinification has resulted in a wine that is rich and complex.
“Cuvée des Terrasses” is universally loved by wine critics and professionals, who, year after year, give it terrific ratings in the press. If you are new to this wine, you are guaranteed to become a lifelong fan after one sip. Check out the press!
91 points, Jeb Dunnuck:
“A wine that has almost always ranked high on my top value list over the past decade or more, the 2019 Ventoux Terrasses offers a slightly deeper, richer style than the Edition 1912M, with plenty of black cherry and redcurrant fruits intermixed with more peppery garrigue, earth, and a touch of meatiness. More medium-bodied, lively, and beautifully textured, with silky tannins, it’s another no-brainer red that would be one hell of a house red. You can enjoy bottles today or safely cellar them for upwards of a decade. I recently finished a case of the 2005 that was still going strong, so this wine has plenty of longevity.” (10/6/20)
90 points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate:
“The 2020 Ventoux Terrasses remains one of the top values in the Southern Rhône. A 60-40 blend of Grenache and Syrah, it offers aromas of black cherries and raspberries, underscored by hints of black olives. Medium to full-bodied, it's round and silky-firm in feel, with a long, mouthwatering finish.” (9/10/20)
