The "Terrasses" has been a smash hit here at Bin Ends since The Beginning, particularly in 2012 when we sold out our stash of the 2009 vintage and cultivated a huge fan base for this wine among many of our customers. This fabulous, modern-style Rhône red was a spectacular value, with its layers of intense fruit, spiciness, earthiness, supple tannins and ridiculous price - and it still is! The "Cuvée des Terrasses" is universally loved by wine critics and professionals, who, year after year, give it 90+ ratings in the press. If you are new to the "Terrasses", you are guaranteed to become a lifelong fan after one sip, guaranteed.
The 2017 Château Pesquié "Cuvée des Terrasses" is a blend of organically farmed Grenache and Syrah grapes that are sourced from the various terroirs of the estate, ranging from gravelly soil to limestone to iron-oxide rich clay. The Grenache spent 6 months in a combination of stainless steel tanks and oak foudres, while the Syrah aged for 6 months in neutral oak barrels. All this diversity in grapes, terroir, and vinification has resulted in a wine that is rich and complex.
94 points, Jeb Dunnuck:
"Longtime readers will know that I love this cuvée, which is, year in and year out, one of the great value buys out there. The 2017 Terrasses is even better than the 2016 and ranks with the finest vintages I’ve tasted, matching the stunning 2010. The essence of kirsch liqueur, wild strawberries, and wildflowers flow to a full-bodied, plump, deep, beautifully layered and sexy wine that has medium-to-full body, ripe tannins, notable minerality, and a great finish. A blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah that was all de-stemmed and brought up in concrete tanks, this is a raw, naked expression of this fabulous terroir located just south of Mount Ventoux. There are over 6,000 cases brought into the U.S., so it should be relatively easy to find, and it has the capability to keep for 7-8 years." (4/2019)
91-93 points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
Showing more intensity and depth than the delicious 2016...Crushed stone notes accent dried spices and raspberries on the nose, while the medium-to-full-bodied palate delivers rich, deep fruit flavors, plenty of concentration and an impressive velvety finish. One of the largest estates in the Ventoux, Château Pesquié is now completely organic, with the goal of being biodynamic in 2019. The Chaudière brothers, Alexandre and Frédéric, deserve great credit for building on their parents' founding vision." (10/2018)
