Château Pesquié is a third-generation winery known for its robust red wines. It is largely responsible for getting the Ventoux appellation the attention it deserves on the world wine stage. Stewards of the land who farm organically, the Chaudière and Bastide families let the terroir here, characterized by limestone soils and high elevations, be the guiding force in determining the characters of the finished wines. 

Named for the elevation of Mont Ventoux (1912 meters above sea level), Edition 1912M is a cuvée made from about 70% grenache and 30% syrah with small additions of Cinsault and Carignan. Fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel tanks and concrete vats, this wine demonstrates the freshness and vibrancy that Ventoux can achieve due to its elevation and unique microclimate provided by the nearby mountain. "From higher elevation parcels and mostly grenache, the 2020 Ventoux Edition 1912M offers pretty strawberry and cherry fruits as well as classic Southern Rhône notes of peppery herbs, spice, and licorice. It has a beautiful sense of minerality on the palate, is medium-bodied, balanced, and just a beautiful wine." (3/2/22)

"The name of this cuvée, a nod to Mont Ventoux, really brings to mind the towering, imposing grandeur of the highest peak in the region. The vineyard is at around 300m on clay and limestone soils and is certified organic. Bold and fruit-forward, it's quite lavish in style, with sweet cinnamon-coated fruit. Heaps of cherries, blackberries, loganberries, and brambly depth. There's a spiciness which must come from the fruit, as the wine has seen no oak. It's succulent and juicy, which lends lift to the grippy, structured tannins."
