Introduction:
The 2020 Ciavolich “Divus” Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC is a robust, richly textured wine offering intense dark fruit, savory spice, and structured elegance. This flagship expression is a testament to the region’s most reputable varietal.

Terroir:
Grapes originate from century-old vineyards in Loreto Aprutino, Abruzzo (approximately 250 m elevation) planted in loam–clay soils. Vine training follows the traditional tendone system. Vineyards yield around 12,000 kg per hectare and are farmed using integrated pest management.

Appearance:
Deep ruby red with an opaque core and hints of violet.

Nose:
Aromas of blackberry, ripe plum, and black pepper are layered with earthy undertones, tobacco, and touches of liquorice and dark chocolate.

Palate:
Full-bodied, with powerful but plush tannins. Flavors unfold with black cherry, plum compote, cocoa, and savory herbs. Firm structure is balanced by underlying freshness and chalky mineral nuances.

Finish:
Long and resonant—fruit fades into drier graphite and dusty tannin, ending with elegant spice and saline clarity.

Overall Impression:
A confident, authentic Montepulciano d’Abruzzo that offers tradition and terroir in every sip. Ideal with grilled lamb, ragu-based pasta, aged cheeses, or hearty stews. Cellar into the late 2020s for enhanced complexity, or enjoy now with decanting.
