PRE-ARRIVAL OFFER

Cristom Vineyards was established in 1992 by the Gerrie family to grow and craft distinguished wines of place that honor individual sites and traditional techniques. The Gerries are stewards of their east-facing volcanic hillside in the Eola-Amity Hills, focused on growing benchmark pinot noir and chardonnay.
Bringing together biodynamic and organic farming methods, they tend the land knowing that the greatest expression of terroir produces the finest wines. Their winemaking is rooted in traditional methods – site selection, low yields, whole-cluster fermentation, and native yeasts – to produce balanced, dynamic wines of intensity, structure, and length. (winery notes)

The 2022 Cristom Vineyards Pinot Noir Paul Gerrie Vineyard benefits from the vineyard's deep, volcanic soils, high elevation, and the cool afternoon Pacific Ocean breezes that enter the Willamette Valley through the Van Duzer Corridor. Aged for 17 months on its lees in French oak barrels (17% new), it has "earthy aromas with notes of cola and red currant. This energetic pinot noir has bright acidity, lively tannins, and
flavors of cherry, raspberry, sweet citrus, and spiced notes of tobacco and licorice, culminating in a persistent finish. (winery tasting notes)

Press:
98 points, Jeb Dunnuck:
"The 2022 Pinot Noir Paul Gerrie Vineyard offers more lifted, savory, and deep aromatics, with an almost nebbiolo-like structure, with an angular feel to its notes of black raspberries, wild earth, and alpine forest herbs. It has angular bright acidity as well as lots of tension and linear drive, a stony, salty, mouthwatering feel, coiled tannins, and a clean, savory finish. It needs time to unwind. Drink 2026-2046." (8/6/24)

97 points & Editor's Choice, International Wine Report:
"The 2022 Paul Gerrie Pinot Noir showcases a gorgeous medium ruby hue with a delicate pink rim and spent 17 months on lees in 17% new French oak barrels, which adds a nuanced structure without overpowering the wine’s elegance. On the nose, you’ll find a vibrant bouquet of crushed Bing cherries, lemon thyme, crushed blueberries, tart cranberries, and just a smooch of dried purple flower petals. This pinot noir stands out for its refined balance and slightly more sophisticated structure compared to its siblings. The palate reveals crunchy tannins that suggest this wine will benefit from another year or two in the bottle to reach its full potential. The winemaking team at Cristom has once again delivered a pinot noir that promises to evolve beautifully with time, offering layers of complexity and a harmonious finish. 593 cases were produced. Highly recommended and editor’s choice. 2024-2034." (8/24)

96 points, Decanter:
"A newer site on the Cristom Estate (planted in 2014) and named for its founder. In the windy part of the Eola-Amity Hills, this vineyard sits between 200-275m and is made with about 50% whole cluster, a favourite technique of winemaker Daniel Estrin. Dusty aromatics open the wine with gravelly minerality, wild red bramble fruits, and a note of salty sea air. On the palate, that mineral tone continues. Red and black berry fruits compete with a distinct tone of salted blood orange pulp. Wild anise and dill bring a savory finish to this elegant showing." (7/14/24)

96 points, James Suckling:
"This combines cheery, sunny red fruit like strawberries and raspberries with deeper, darker blackcurrants on fine-grained tannins and vivid acidity. Very structured but very pretty, too. Drink now or hold." (3/14/25)
