Coteaux Bourguignons is a Burgundian appellation for fresh, youthful red, white, and rosé wines that covers a large territory, from Auxerre to Beaujolais. Red wines are typically a blend of Gamay and Pinot Noir, both of which offer plush fruit characters, silky tannins, and vibrant acidity. Jean-Baptiste Duperray runs his family estate and vineyards located in southern Beaujolais under the premise that the best wines are made in the vineyards. He farms his land sustainably in order to ensure the purest expressions of varietal and terroir in his finished wines.
Sourced from hillside vineyards with abundant sun exposure, limestone soils, and vines with an average age of 20 years, “Les Deux Complices” is a 50-50 Pinot Noir-Gamay blend aged in a combination of cement tanks and seasoned oak barrels. Medium-bodied and displaying the telltale silky texture of a wine made from these varietals, it has aromas of red fruits and a palate with abundant flavors of red cherries and raspberries entwined with hints of cranberries, strawberries, gingerbread, wet stone, and white pepper unfolding layer by layer. Bright acidity brings the wine to a long finish.
