Marc Morey is a fourth-generation winery established in 1919 and based in Chassagne-Montrachet. Today the estate is run by Sabine Mollard, granddaughter of Marc Morey, himself the son of Fernand Morey, who first bought vines in the village after returning from WWI. Marc expanded on Fernand’s initial land purchases and began to bottle the estate’s wine production in 1937 under the name Domaine Fernand Morey.*

Marc Morey and his daughter Marie-Josephe, with her husband Bernard Mollard, continued the augmentation of the domaine, renaming the estate Domaine Marc Morey in 1977. Today, under the direction of Sabine Mollard, Domaine Marc Morey produces some 60,000 bottles from its 9.5 hectares of vineyards in Chassagne, Rully & St. Aubin. Domaine Marc Morey's cellars are located directly under the century-old family home right in the village of Chassagne-Montrachet.*

The village of Rully is located in the northern part of the Côte Chalonnaise in Burgundy, and some of Burgundy's best values can be found here.

The 2024 vintage was 40% smaller than the typical year, with harvest taking place on September 14th, a bit later than most years. Malolactic fermentation took place a bit later than most years and the wine underwent more lees stirring than typical vintages. Sabine was very happy with the final results of her work in the cellar and considers her Rully bottlings amont the very best value white Burgundy selections available in the market today.*

The wine underwent temperature-controlled fermentation to start, with a transfer midway through to barrel (25% new oak). The wine rested on the lees for six months with occasional battonage and was filtered before bottling.

Burghound Tasting Notes:
"A floral-suffused nose speaks of the essence of pear, anise and a background whiff of oak influence. There is a lovely sense of underlying tension to the solidly concentrated medium weight flavors that possess a more sophisticated mouthfeel, all wrapped in a lightly stony, persistent, balanced and markedly more complex finale. This is excellent for a villages-level Rully and worth your interest, especially for value."
