Domaine du Mont Verrier is a 17th-century estate located in the heart of Beaujolais. In recent years, it had been in a state of disrepair and in danger of being destroyed, but its fate was changed when Gérard Legrand purchased it in 2007 and started to revive the property. In addition to restoring the buildings and opening a guest house, he planted 40 hectares of vineyards, thus combining his respect for hospitality and culture with his love of wine.

The 2023 Domaine Mont Verrier  Morgon "Janin" is crafted from 100% gamay sourced from the prized "Janin" climat and is aged for 12 months in a combination of new and seasoned French oak barrels. Bright ruby in color with violet reflections, it has aromas and flavors of black cherries, blackberries, and raspberries. The palate is rich and juicy, with velvety tannins and accents of baking spices. Bright acidity brings the wine to a long and lively finish.

97 points, Best in Show, 2025 World Wine Awards, Decanter:
"After the success of two Beaujolais cru wines for the first time in last year’s Best in Show, we were curious to see if this year’s competition brought new candidates … and it did. The wine that emerged on top this year was, once again, a Morgon: not always the deepest of the crus but rarely the lightest either, and a zone whose differing soils and slopes seem to bring gamay unique levels of fruited energy and definition. This dark cru wine is ultra-fresh and combines black cherry notes with deep, meaty depths. On the palate, the wine is voluminous yet enticing, with very soft, accessible tannins; sappy freshness and vivid fruit, though, give it impact and strike. The meatier depths bode well, too, for further bottle maturation."

*A climat is a precisely defined parcel of land with a unique terroir that give its wines a distinct character and personality, like a specific name for a single vineyard site.
