PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
Sablet is one of the 21 Côtes du Rhône villages that are authorized to include their name on wine labels. Sablet's Mediterranean climate, characterized by long, hot summers, provides ample opportunity for the grapes to reach full phenolic ripeness. Its sandy, rocky soils, with excellent drainage, require the vines to dig deep for water and nutrients; this process results in stronger vines and high-quality fruit.
Notre Dame des Pallières is a very old family estate based in Gigondas whose name comes from the water source located at the edge of the property. Current owner Claude Roux tends to the vines as only someone with a deep knowledge of the land can do. He shares this knowledge with his children, Isabelle and Julien, who be the next generation to take care of this cherished land. The estate has thirty hectares planted to grape vines in Gigondas, Rasteau, Sablet, Lirac, & Côtes du Rhône.
The 2020 Domaine Notre Dame des Pallières Côtes du Rhône-Villages Sablet is a 60/40 blend of grenache and syrah that will enthrall your senses with aromas and flavors of brambly cherries, blackberries, and candied raspberries. The palate is medium-to-full-bodied and smooth, with pliant tannins, moderate acidity, and a whiff of black pepper on the finish - an elegant yet robust expression of the Southern Rhône!
