PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
Dominio de Eguren is located in the region of Manchuela, a sub-zone of La Mancha in Central Spain. The property has been family-run for four generations by the Eguren family, best known for their Rioja estate, Sierra Cantabria. Dominio de Eguren, along with Sierra Cantabria, was one of the first wineries represented by noted Spanish wine importer Jorge Ordoñez in the early 1990s.
Protocolo Tinto is crafted from the fruit of 30-70-year-old tempranillo vines sourced from several of the finest sites in Manchuela. Fermentation and subsequent aging occur in temperature-controlled tanks at cooler temperatures to preserve the wine's fresh fruit characters.
The 2022 Dominio de Eguren Protocolo Tinto is crafted from 100% tempranilllo aged in American oak barrels for three months. Juicy and approachable, it has expansive aromas and flavors of cherries and raspberries. On the palate, the fruit characters are laced with subtle accents of toast, vanilla, and baking spice, with vibrant acidity and the merest hint of white pepper emerging on the long finish.
