Introduction:
The 2021 Dominus Estate "Othello" is a refined proprietary red blend from the legendary Dominus Estate in Napa Valley. Crafted with the same attention to detail as the flagship Dominus, this wine offers a more approachable and vibrant expression, showcasing the estate’s signature elegance and balance.

Terrior:
Sourced from the historic Napanook Vineyard in Yountville, Napa Valley. The vineyard features well-draining gravelly and clay loam soils, benefiting from the region’s warm days and cool nights, which contribute to the wine’s depth, structure, and freshness.

Appearance:
Deep ruby with a youthful purple hue, indicating its vibrancy and aging potential. The wine is clear and bright, with slow-forming, elegant legs.

Nose:
Expressive and fruit-forward, featuring aromas of black cherries, cassis, and ripe plums, complemented by hints of violet, graphite, and sweet spice. Subtle notes of cedar and dark chocolate emerge with aeration.

Palate:
Medium to full-bodied with velvety tannins and lively acidity. Layers of juicy black fruit, red currants, and mocha are balanced by hints of toasted oak and dried herbs. The wine is polished and seamless, with a smooth mouthfeel.

Finish:
Long and refined, with lingering notes of dark berries, cocoa, and a touch of minerality, showcasing its finesse and precision.

Overall Impression:
A beautifully crafted Napa Valley red with elegance, depth, and accessibility. While approachable in its youth, this wine also has the potential to develop further complexity with short- to mid-term aging. A fantastic introduction to the Dominus style.

Press:
96 points, James Suckling:
"Lots of blackberries, dark cherries and hints of orange peel and bark in the aromas. Medium to full-bodied with fine creamy tannins that caress the palate. The tannic tension gives this focus and brightness. 85% cabernet sauvignon, 9% cabernet franc and the rest petit verdot.
"

93 points, The Wine Independent:
"Deep garnet-purple in color, it skips out of the glass with bright, cheery notes of fresh blackberries, juicy black plums, and redcurrant jelly followed by hints of graphite, black olives, menthol, and lavender. The medium to full-bodied palate is light on its feet and lively, with soft silt-like tannins and bright crunchy red and black fruit flavors, finishing with a minty lift."
