“Michael” and “David” are Michael and David Phillips, brothers whose family has farmed fruits and vegetables in the Lodi region since the 1850s and has cultivated wine grapes for nearly a century. Michael and David are the 5th generation of grape growers in the Phillips family and care for their vines with the future in mind. They have adopted some of the most progressive sustainable farming practices in the state. All 750 acres of their vineyards are third-party certified; starting with the 2011 vintage, 100% of the Lodi-grown fruit crushed at Michael David winery was certified sustainable. (winery notes)
The 2021 Earthquake Cabernet is deep ruby in hue, with bold, layered aromas of dark plum, blackberry, and mocha in the glass. Full-bodied, it is filled with intense flavors of boysenberry, espresso, and toasted marshmallow leading to a long, oak-inspired finish. (from winery notes)

90 points, Wine Enthusiast:
"This bottling is concentrated with mixed berries, allspice, and citrus zest. These interweave with florals, simmering spices, chicory, molten chocolate, and freshly brewed coffee. Tannins are silky. Aerate for an hour. Drink or hold until 2028." (4/1/24)
