Emmanuel Darnaud established the estate bearing his name in 2001 and has quickly become a major plater in the northern Rhône Valley. With holdings in Crozes-Hermitage, Hermitage, and Saint-Joseph, he crafts wines that honor their origins and express the marriage of grape and terroir. He farms his land organically so as not to interfere with the purity of is wines, becoming fully certified in 2024.
The 2024 Emmanuel Darnaud Crozes-Hermitage Mise en Bouche is a mono-varietal sourced from 20-25-year-old vines planted in soils of glacial alluvium and rolled pebbles. Aged mainly in vats, with a small proportion in oak for a period of 12 months, it has aromas of blackberries, clove, and violets followed by a medium- to full-bodied, silky-textured palate of black raspberries, black cherries, and cassis laced with savory herbs, brambly earth, wet stone, and a whiff of black pepper. Pliant tannins lend structure, and bright, juicy acidity brings the wine to a satisfying finish.

92 points, Decanter:
"Citrus nose, then soft and plump on the palate. Good concentration, length, freshness and harmony in a fruity, generous and ample style."
91 points, Jeb Dunnuck:
"Deeper ruby/purple-hued, the 2024 Crozes-Hermitage Mise En Bouche offers ripe mulberries, assorted blue fruits, pepper, and sappy, floral nuances on the nose. It's medium-bodied and has a pure, layered mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and juicy acidity. As with everything from this great winemaker, it's impeccably made."
