The Vesselle family has been making Champagne for over 300 years. A récoltant-manipulant (AKA "Farmer Fizz") house, Domaine Jean Vesselle makes its wines exclusively from their own vineyards. This qualitative difference is crucial for those seeking the ultimate in Champagne flavor and character.
Today, Delphine Vesselle and her husband David continue the family tradition, making grower Champagne in the village of Bouzy, famous for the quality of its Pinot Noir. The estate comprises 11 hectares and is planted to 90% pinot Noir and 10% Chardonnay, with a total production of under 7,000 cases.
The 2012 Jean Vesselle Champagne Brut Prestige Grand Cru is a blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay aged in bottle for 8 years. Truly a nectar for the gods, it has heady aromas of lemon curd, spiced apple, candied orange, apricots, honeysuckle, and caramel that lead to an intense, lush palate of peaches, apricots, cherries, and raspberries laced with toasted brioche, honey, and wet stone. Vibrant acidity cuts through these rich flavors, providing balance and a long, zesty finish.

"Layered and complex, this shows spiced apple, sourdough, candied orange and light caramel aromas and flavors. It’s very bright, with sharp, zesty acidity throughout. Vivid finish. 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay from Bouzy. 7.5 g/L dosage. Disgorged July 2024. Drink or hold."
