PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
Born in Harare, Zimbabwe, Tinashe worked his way up to the position of manager at a grocery store when Zimbabwe fell into economic crisis. After moving to Cape Town in South Africa, he found work polishing cutlery at the fine dining restaurant, The Roundhouse. After being promoted to waiter he caught the wine bug, learning as much as he could from the restaurant's beverage director. He eventually moved to other establishments where he honed his skills, then landed a position as head sommelier at The Test Kitchen. The recipient of numerous awards for his work, Tinashe was not content to bask in his success. He had a long-standing dream of becoming a winemaker and realized it in 2017 with the establishment of Kumusha Wines.*
The 2020 Kumusha Sauvignon Blanc is a monovarietal sourced from mineral-rich vineyards in the Western Cape appellation. The grapes were harvested in the early morning to preserve freshness and aromatics; the juice was fermented in stainless steel and aged on the lees for 4 months. The resulting wine is the perfect balance of texture, vibrancy, fruit, and terroir-driven characters. Tropical fruit aromas jump out of the glass; the palate has generous flavors of melon, guava, and passionfruit laced with citrus notes, wet stone, and bright, zippy acidity.*
