The Loire Valley is home to some of the world's most compelling wines, and no one was more enamored of their charms than Lieu-Dit founders Eric Railsback and Justin Willett. Very early in their careers, they bonded over their appreciation of Loire wines, and after sharing countless bottles they embarked on a mission to establish a winery stateside dedicated to the production of wines made exclusively from Loire grapes. They realized their dream in Santa Barbara County, where the marine-based soils and varied micro-climates provided ideal growing conditions for these classic varietals.Â
The 2022 Lieu Dit Chenin Blanc is made from grapes grown in "Block 1B" of the Happy Canyon Vineyard in the Santa Ynez Valley and is a testament to the harmonious marriage between chenin blanc and the lieu dit's terroir. Â Aged for seven months in neutral oak barrels, it is rich and round, with aromas of Golden Delicious apples and flavors of poached pears and apples entwined with subtle notes of honey, chamomile, almonds, and wet stone. The palate is infused with vibrant, balancing acidity and the wine finishes long.
