Marqués de Cáceres was founded in 1970 by Henri Forner and is based in La Rioja Alta. The winery's first vintage was released in 1975. Henri, who had already developed a strong reputation owning and managing two châteaux in Bordeaux, set his sights on his homeland of Spain and chose Rioja as the home of his new winery. Mr. Forner was significantly influenced by the time he spent in Bordeaux, as demonstrated by his relentless pursuit of terroir-driven excellence that is evident in each and every one of his wines. The critical reception of Marqués de Cáceres across both Spanish and international wine markets over the years clearly demonstrates that his efforts and high standards have paid off in spades.

The 2020 Marqués de Cáceres Rioja Reserva is a Tempranillo- dominant wine sourced from older vineyards in Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa with low yields (pro tip: low yielding vines bring forth ultra ripe berries). Aged for 20 months in a combination of new and seasoned French oak followed by two years of bottle aging, it has aromas of black fruits, coffee beans, clove, and balsamic followed by a rich, lushly-textured palate redolent with flavors of blackberries, cassis, and black cherries layered with accents of cocoa, baking spices, and toasty oak. Balancing acidity gives the wine lift and balance.
