The arneis varietal was on the brink of extinction, but a resurgence of interest in Piedmont white wines became the catalyst for an arneis renaissance. Negro Lorenzo's expression of the varietal is a rich, vivid wine that reflects the region's distinctive terroir.
Negro Lorenzo is located in Monteu Roero, north of Alba and the famous Barolo/Barbaresco territory. Here, the sandy soil full of marine fossils brings forth elegant, complex wines. Fun fact: the scallop shell on the label of Lorenzo's wines was found while planting new vines.
The 2022 Negro Lorenzo Arneis is lushly-textured yet layered with crisp acidity. Fermented in stainless steel and aged on the lees, it has a nose of white flowers and chamomile and a palate redolent with flavors of Golden Delicious apples, apricots, and pears laced with hints of savory herbs, almonds, and stony mineralty.
