Founded in 1999, Owen Roe Winery's mission has been to produce beautiful wines from superior sites in the Pacific Northwest, where fruit ripens slowly and fully, with excellent acidity and balance. Guided by a commitment to the highest standards of winemaking, Owen Roe works primarily with smaller vineyard sites in Oregon and Washington, where the cool climate and distinctive soils create wines with unique personalities and whose quality and complexity are consistent with the world's most age-worthy wines.*

The 2019 Sinister Hand, a blend of 57% syrah, 18% grenache, 18% mourvèdre, 5% white Rhône varietals, and 2% cinsault, displays spicy, dark, and savory characteristics. The exuberant nose has raspberry aromas with a hint of vanilla, while the lively palate has a soft juicy texture and a well-balanced acidity. Chewy tannins, black cherry, and a hint of toasty French oak round out the vibrant finish.*

92 points, James Suckling:
"Blueberries, lavender, plum leaf, lemon zest, and stones on the nose. It’s medium-to-full-bodied with fine-grained tannins. Supple, juicy, and fruity. Flavorful finish."

91 points, Jeb Dunnuck:
"Lots of juicy berry fruits, briary herbs, pepper, and violet notes emerge from the 2019 Sinister Hand, Washington State's take on a terrific Côtes du Rhône. Medium-bodied, balanced, and just straight-up delicious, drink this charming, balanced Syrah blend (18% each of Grenache and Mourvèdre with smaller amounts of other varieties) over the coming 4-6 years."

91 points, Wine Enthusiast:
"The aromas fascinate in notes of raspberry, thistle, cranberry, blueberry, herbs, and coffee. Plump, palate-coating flavors follow. There's a lovely texture and purity to this wine, while it remains light on its feet. Raspberry and blueberry notes linger on the finish."
