The Collazzi Estate, nestled in the hills a few miles from Florence, has belonged to the Marchi family since 1933. About 25 hectares are planted to vines and 140 hectares are cultivated with olive groves.*
Collazzi’s microclimate is on average warmer and drier than the surrounding area, and part of the property lies in a natural amphitheater with an optimal south-west exposure. The abundant sunshine, high daytime temperatures, and wide diurnal temperature variations bring forth ripe fruits with balancing acidity, the building blocks of great wines. *
The 2021 Tenuta Colazzi "Bastioni" is a blend of 80% old-vine sangiovese, 18% merlot, and 2% malvasia nera from 7 hectares of DOCG vineyards with well-drained, stony soils. Aged for 12 months in barrique, it is
medium-to-full-bodied, with aromas and flavors redolent with ripe red cherries and raspberries and accents of bramble, wet stone, and cocoa. The palate has vibrant acidity and a hint of white pepper that emerges on the long finish.
