The World of Armagnac Today! A tasting with Gaspard Lesgourgues of Château de Laubade.
Join us in Needham on Wednesday, February 26th from 5-6:30 PM for a tasting of exquisite Armagnacs from Château de Laubade!
Armagnac is the oldest known type of brandy (distilled spirit made from grapes), crafted for centuries in the region of Gascony just South of Bordeaux.
Armagnac is single-distilled, which typically makes it brown in color, robust and full-bodied. Aged for many years in oak barrels, its tasting notes include grape, leather, earth, oak, praline, and Christmas cake!
In 1974 the property was acquired by Maurice Lesgourgues and his son Jean-Jacques. Jean-Jacques set out to restore the property and make its Armagnacs the best of the region. He committed himself to distill for 8 years without ever selling a drop. Today, Laubade has the largest stock of quality eaux-de-vie from 1974 onward. Jean-Jacques' sons Arnaud and Denis have now taken over the business and continue to reap awards for their efforts.

Château de Laubade is a distinctive property in the heart of the most highly regarded region for Armagnac, the Bas Armagnac. It is surrounded by 105 hectares (260 acres) of vineyards, all dedicated to the production of high-quality Armagnac.
