Introduction:
Vite Colte was established in 2000 and has made its mark in Piedmont as a world-class producer thanks to sustainable farming practices, manual maintenance and harvesting of the vines, low yields per vine, and reverence for terroir. Their wines have received numerous high ratings from the press as well as legions of fans from around the world.

Terrior:
Sourced from hillside vineyards within the Barbaresco DOCG, the vines grow on calcareous marl and clay soils typical of the Langhe region. These slopes, with ideal sun exposure and cool evening temperatures, allow nebbiolo to ripen slowly and evenly, developing its characteristic aromatic lift and firm tannic structure. The winery's stringent vineyard selection further enhances the site’s expression.

Appearance:
The wine displays a clear, luminous ruby core that transitions to garnet at the rim—a hallmark of nebbiolo. Its medium intensity and brilliant clarity reflect careful vinification and bottle aging.

Nose:
Aromatic and refined, the nose opens with cherries, dried rose petals, and raspberry compote. Subtle layers of sage and thyme emerge, followed by hints of leather, tobacco, and a touch of spice from oak aging.

Palate:
On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with vibrant acidity and well-integrated, fine-grained tannins. Red cherries, wild strawberries, and cranberrues are framed by savory herbal notes and a touch of dried orange peel. The texture is smooth but structured, showing excellent balance and length. There’s a mineral backbone that adds energy and finesse.

Finish:
The finish is long and elegant, with lingering notes of cherries, dried roses, and a slight anise undertone. Tannins are persistent but polished, tapering off with finesse. The wine finishes dry and savory, promising further development with cellaring.

Press:
91 points, Decanter:
Spending up to one year in large oak barrels, this Barbaresco – a blend of vineyard sites – expresses some wild strawberry alongside notes of black tea, sous bois, and fresh herbs. Intense and concentrated yet juicy and with beautiful breezy freshness, this is a great example of why everybody should be buying Barbaresco 2021s. The tannins are maybe slightly firm, but it seems to be more the wood than the grape, so give this more time to harmonize and then enjoy."

91 points, James Suckling:
"Notes of sweet cherries and dried strawberries, with hints of chocolate, oranges, and dried flowers. Medium-bodied, textured and velvety with fresh acidity and generous red-fruit character. A polished finish. Drink or hold."

Overall Impression:
This 2021 Barbaresco offers impressive purity and complexity, with classic Nebbiolo traits—floral aromatics, firm structure, and a layered, mineral-driven profile. It’s a wine of precision and poise, suitable for both near-term enjoyment and further aging. Its balance of fruit, acidity, and tannins makes it a versatile food wine, reflecting both the pedigree of the Barbaresco appellation and the thoughtful craftsmanship of Vite Colte.
