The 2021 Wente Southern Hills Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from and named for Wente's Southern Hills Vineyards, located along the southern hills of the Central Coast. The area, with its abundant sunshine, cooling breezes, and well-drained, rocky soils, is exceptionally well-suited to the production of cabernet sauvignon grapes.

A blend of 87% cabernet sauvignon, 8% petite sirah, 3% petit verdot, and 2% malbec, this gloriously good cabernet is aged in a combination of new and seasoned French and American oak barrels as well as stainless steel in order to achieve the perfect balance of richness, depth, and freshness. A classic example of an approachable California cabernet, its clean and concise fruit leads every step of the way, showcasing fresh blackberry, cassis, and black cherry supported by a delightful layering of oak-inspired flavors including chocolate and a touch of freshly baked gingerbread. The fruit-driven palate, integrated oak, and underlying structure make it clear that this Wente fan favorite will drink beautifully for the next 3-5 years. (winemaker notes)
