Burgundian natives pinot noir and gamay make beautiful wines together because of their complimentary AND opposing characteristics. While both varietals offer plush red fruits, silky tannins, and bright acidity, gamay's violet and lilac notes perfectly compliment pinot's more earthy characters.
Hanson Vineyards is a small, family-owned winery located in the foothills of the Cascades in the eastern central part of the Willamette Valley. The Hanson family is dedicated to the sustainable production of low-intervention wines that beautifully express the terroir of the Willamette Valley. With only 16 acres of vineyards, they can lavish plenty of attention on the vines, but when it comes to the process of winemaking, they let the terroir be the guiding force behind the process.
The 2021 Hanson Vineyards "Meridian" Gamay/Pinot Noir has aromas of red fruits, rose petals, and violets along with subtle hints of forest floor. The medium-bodied palate is silky-smooth, with ripe and juicy flavors of raspberries, cherries, and wild strawberries layered with hints of peppery spice and stony minerality. The flavors are interwoven with bright acidity that brings the wine into perfect balance.
Man, oh man, this wine is gorgeous!
