PRODUCT OVERVIEW/REVIEW:
Crafted from fruit sourced from special blocks of Broadside's own, decades-old estate vineyards, Santa Margarita Ranch & Grosso Kresser Vineyard. Not a single effort was spared in making certain that only the very best Cabernet Sauvignon made its way into the bottle, including hand harvesting of the fruit in the vineyards followed by hand-selecting of the bunches.

Once the fruit makes its way to the cellar, fermentation is allowed to proceed slowly and naturally utilizing the native yeasts present on the grapes themselves and in the winery. Upon completion of the initial fermentation and a year in barrel, the Broadside team conducts an initial declassification with only the very best barrels continuing on in the Blackletter program and the remaining barrels blended back into the Paso Robles Cabernet. From here, the remaining components of Blackletter spend another 8+ months in barrel without racking before a second and final round of triage takes place prior to bottling. To say that Brian & Stephy are focusing on quality over quantity with Blackletter would be an understatement. At the end of the day, a mere 900 cases of this wine were produced.

VINOUS: Rated 92 Points
"High-toned cassis and cherry aromas, along with subtle floral and licorice notes. Alluringly sweet and penetrating on the palate, showing firm structure to the juicy dark berry and cherry flavors. Finishes long and spicy, with well-integrated tannins and persistent florality" Josh Raynolds

WINE ENTHUSIAST- Rated 91 Points
"Deep and dark in the glass, this bottling from two appellations in Paso Robles shows earthy aromas of dried cherries, charred wood, dusty herbs and light licorice. There is heft to the thick palate, where a lush texture carries flavors of black plum, dark berry and peppery spice, with the acidity becoming quite apparent on the finish." Matt Kettman
