While most Champagnes are from the vineyards around Reims and Épernay, Côte des Bar is located about two hours southeast, and until recently, its fruit was sold to large-scale producers. Luckily, some forward-thinking pioneers recognized that the region's Kimmeridgean soil, ever-so-slightly warmer climate, and predominance of pinot noir made it capable of greatness. They knew Côte des Bar had the goods to produce rich, round, flavorful wines, and one sip of these bubbles confirms it!
Champagne A. Bartel is a cooperative of about 130 growers founded in 1956 and dedicated to the production of top-notch fruit. They led the charge to buck tradition and helped to establish the Côte des Bar as a quality producer of distinctive, terroir-driven Champagnes.
Crafted from 90% pinot noir and 10% chardonnay, the NV Champagne
A. Bartel Brut has a persistent mousse, with aromas and flavors of white flowers, yellow fruits, and white peaches. The palate is rich and full, thanks to malolactic fermentation and 36 months of aging. It is a Decanter Magazine 90-point World Wine Awards Winner.
