PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
Pic Saint-Loup is located in Languedoc-Roussillon near the City of Montpelier. Its vineyards share their limestone-rich soils with its two major landmarks, the majestic Pic Saint-Loup mountain situated in the center of the appellation, and the Montagne de L'Hortus, a kilometer-long ridge that runs through it. In addition, its proximity to the Mediterranean Sea and its cooling breezes, wide diurnal temperature variations, and abundant sunshine provide the wines with everything they need to produce top-notch fruit.

Château de Lancyre is a 12th-century castle that Etienne Durand inherited in 1870. Armed with extensive experience as a farmer and knowledge of the process of grafting American rootstock to native wines in order to stop phylloxera, he converted the property into a winery and planted vineyards. The torch was passed over to the next two generations of Durands, but it was the fourth generation owner Bernard Durand who, with the help of enologist Régis Valentin, upgraded the facilities and restructured the vineyards, making the property a serious winery capable of making wines that would thrive in international markets.

Today's wine is a 50/50 blend of syrah and grenache with captivating aromas of smoke-tinged red and black fruits and a full-bodied, silky palate that abounds with flavors of black raspberries, cherries, and blackcurrants laced with accents of garrigue and rosemary. Hints of licorice and baking spices emerge on the long finish.
