In only three generations, the Guigal family has achieved iconic status in the Rhône Valley. Their domain was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in Ampuis, a small, ancient village at the heart of the Côte-Rôtie appellation. Following his arrival in 1924 at the age of 14, the founder went on to make wine for 67 vintages in Côte-Rôtie. In 1961, Etienne’s son Marcel Guigal took over management of the domain; he was joined in 1973 by his wife, Bernadette and they worked hand-in-hand to grow the family business. In 1975, their son Philippe was born; today he holds the title of enologist and oversees the entire domain with his wife, Eve. Over the years the family has expanded its holdings throughout the Rhône Valley. Today, the domain has an extensive portfolio of wines spanning all price points from every AOC in the Rhône that have won hundreds of accolades from the wine press as well as legions of fans from around the world. 92 points, Jeb Dunnuck:

"The 2019 Côtes Du Rhône will be a no-brainer purchase. This syrah-heavy red has lots of blackberry, bouquet garni, and peppery notes in a ripe, full-bodied, textured style."

90 points, Decanter:
"A benchmark entry-level Côtes du Rhône from a classic Rhône Valley producer. A medium aromatic intensity of blackberries, spice, and black pepper. The palate is textured and serves the same dark fruit plus spice notes. The wine (like most Côtes du Rhônes) shines with food."
