PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
Established in 1890, Marina Danieli is a fifth-generation, family-owned winery that has come to define high-quality, terroir-driven wine in the DOC of Colli Orientali del Friuli in northern Italy's Friuli-Venezia Giulia region. Located in the village of Buttrio in the province of Udine, its 86 acres benefit from an elevation of 400 feet above sea level, moderating breezes from the Adriatic Sea, southern exposure, and soil composed of marl and sandstone. These gifts of nature allow the grapes to ripen thoroughly while preserving acidity. The resulting wines are complex and compelling.
The 2015 Marina Danieli Merlot is just more proof that French varietals make magic in Italian soil. Medium-to-full-bodied, it is unmistakably Merlot on the nose! It's a mellow wine full of plum, red raspberry and mild oak. Soft, silky and suave. Well intergraded aromas of black cherry, damp forest, tobacco and spice are balanced with good structured tannins. Blindly you trip to Bordeaux.*
