The 2020 Domaine Belleville Mercurey Champ Ledoy hails from the AOC, or appellation of Mercurey in Burgundy's Côte Chalonnaise, which is sandwiched between the more well-known Côte d'Or to the north and the Mâconnais to the south, with the River Saône to the east.
Mercurey is the most prestigious of the Côte Chalonnaise's five appellations. Its more stringent laws governing wine production, continental climate, limestone soils, and hilly terrain enable it to
produce pinots with more depth and roundness than neighboring appellations. Today's gorgeous pinot is a testament to the viticultural gifts of the region.
The 2020 Domaine Belleville Mercurey Champ Ledoy awakens the senses with aromas and flavors of black raspberries and accents of black cherries, savory herbs, and wet stone. The palate is quite robust for a pinot noir yet displays elegance characteristic of the varietal. It is smooth as silk from the initial sip to the long and luxurious finish.
