PRODUCT OVERVIEW/REVIEWS:
Howard Park is one of Western Australia’s pioneering family-owned wineries with vineyards in the premier grape-growing regions of Margaret River and the Great Southern. Established by Jeff and Amy Burch in 1986, Howard Park is a family endeavor that has included the selection, acquisition, and development of four exceptional estate vineyards across both regions as well as a winery and "cellar door" in Margaret River. The winery is led by legendary winemaker and winner of the 2018 Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine ‘Winemaker of the Year’ award, Janice McDonald. Howard Park is also a proud member of Australia’s First Families of Wine (AFFW), a collective of twelve multi-generational family-owned wine producers. Together, these wineries represent seventeen appellations across Australia and forty-eight generations of winemakers. (importer and winemaker notes)

The 2020 Howard park "Miamup" Chardonnay is sourced from Howard Park's vineyard holdings in the Margaret River; each parcel contributes to the wine's well-balanced and compellingly complex flavor profile. Fermented and lees-aged in a combination of new and seasoned French oak barrels, it is "redolent with aromas of fresh citrus, melon, peach, and pear fruit notes that define Margaret River Chardonnay. These primary aromas are subtly highlighted with caramel and vanilla spice to add complexity and anticipation. The palate exudes fleshy primary fruit laced with lemon butter and brioche. A fine, chalk-like texture, bright acidity, and subtle use of oak add length, dimension, and structure to the wine." (winery tasting notes)

92 points, Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"This chard is comparably dense and rich, while still maintaining balance. There are notes of toast, cream, and flint alongside lemon-lime and peach fruit. There's also a regional saline character. Oak and concentrated fruit make up the palate, but it's structured for the long haul, with length and lovely fruit purity. It should hold through 2030." (7/1/22)

91 points, James Suckling:
"Spiced apple, pear, peach, melon, and honeysuckle on the nose. Medium-to full-bodied with fresh acidity and a juicy, round palate. Fresh finish." (11/4/21)
